2021, the year of the (Metal) Ox, begins 12 February 2021 (Chinese lunar New Year Day) and ends 30 January 2022. The Ox is the second of all Chinese zodiac animals (to arrive at Jade Emperor’s party after the rat jumped off the Ox’s back and came first!) and is associated with the Earthly Branch (地支 / dì zhī) Chǒu (丑), the 1:00AM to 3:00AM morning hours and the Yang. Oxen are hardworking, intelligent, reliable, never demanding praise and honest. Recent years of the Ox include 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 and 2009. Happy Chinese New Year!
