International Day of Women and Girls in Science
11 February, 2021
Less than 30 per cent of researchers in science and technology worldwide are women and only around 30 per cent of all female students select Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related fields in higher education. Biases and stereotypes in real life and onscreen are steering girls and women away from science related fields. International Day of Women and Girls in Science is to encourage full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and to advance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
